Alex Eddington The presence between the performers is like a real space that we are invited to observe. I love that this is live and so the space between stage and audience is present as well. I love falling into the groove and still not knowing what's coming next.

about

Recorded November 5, 2016

Nukariik is a group of two sisters, Karin and Kathy Kettler, who work together to preserve and share Inuit culture from Canada. Their heritage is from Kangiqsualujjuaq, Nunavik. While the members of Nukariik have lived most of their lives in southern Canada, they have developed a strong connection to their heritage and culture through their Inuit friends, Elders and family.

Co-presented with Native Women In The Arts, Nukariik was the opening artist of our Inuit Showcase and also gave a workshop presentation in the days leading up to the concert. Throat singing duos are relatively rarely seen in Toronto and the Kettlers quickly won over the audience with their mix of traditional and original repertoire. The good humour in the songs and presentation is evident by the crowd’s laughter and enthusiasm.
