Merganzer is the experimental pop project of Ottawa-based violinist Mika Posen (Timber Timbre, Agnes Obel, Forest City Lovers). She sings songs built from sampled strings, homemade beats, soaring sine waves, and plaintive melodies.

Merganzer opened for Pauline Oliveros’ final Toronto appearance in 2016. This set was more minimal and spacious than other Merganzer material from around the same time. Confronted with the simplicity of a violinist and her effects, the sold out crowd had little idea what to expect prior to such a legend of new music but responded with tremendous enthusiasm.
